Time: Probably June 10-12

As Chinese people celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, or Duanwu Festival, which falls on June 12 (May 5 of Chinese lunar calendar) this year, Beijing's Yanqing County will host the 8th Dragon Boat Cultural Festival, highlighting such activities as a dragon boat race, a zongzi-wrapping competition (glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves), and intangible cultural heritage shows.

More activities were developed last year to raise people's interest, including cycling around the Yeya Lake and free-of-charge wedding photography for newly-weds.

In China, the Duanwu Festival is marked in honor of Qu Yuan, one of the greatest ancient Chinese poets who drowned himself in the Miluo River to show his protest against the rampant corruption at court.
