Hong Kong Disneyland narrowed its losses in fiscal year 2010 to HK$718 million. |
Hong Kong Disneyland again failed to make a profit and posted a net loss of HK$718 million in fiscal year 2010, which ended Oct. 2, National Business Daily reported Thursday.
The theme park managed to narrow its annual losses from the HK$1.315 billion in fiscal year 2009. However, it may face an even bigger challenge when Shanghai Disneyland is up and running in 2015, the newspaper said.
According to Hong Kong Disneyland's fiscal report, it received 5.2 million tourists in fiscal year 2010, up 13 percent from 2009 and marking a record high since its launch in 2005. Of the visitors, 42 percent were from mainland China, a 32-percent increase over the year before. It was the first time the number of mainland Chinese visitors surpassed that of local Hong Kong residents.
