The last member of a four-man gang boasting to be "China's No.1 killers" after killing 15 taxi drivers in 17 murder-robbery cases 10 years ago has been caught by police in a city of southeast China's Fujian Province.

He Yong, 30, a Hunan Province native, was caught by police on Wednesday in Quanzhou, Fujian, when he was taking his pregnant girlfriend to a hospital, the news portal Yunnan.cn reported.
According to the police, He was the last member of a four-man gang still at large after the gang stabbed, strangled and beat to death 15 cabbies. The other three gang members were caught 10 years ago and were all executed on June 5, 2001.
He told the police that he was involved in only one of the 17 cases and after he heard that the other three gang members were caught and executed, he was so scared that he decided to change his name and run away.
In the next 10 years, He went to other cities in China to hide from police and eventually settled down in Quanzhou and found a girlfriend.
He confessed that on January 11, 2001, he worked with the gang to rob and kill a cabbie in Kunming, Yunnan Province, for only 25 yuan (US$3.93) - the first and only case he acknowledged involvement.
The man said he fled Kunming alone the next morning to Quanzhou and worked in a factory for three years, then went to Guangdong Province with family members. He was caught after police got information that his girlfriend was pregnant in Quanzhou and they staked out a hospital to wait for them.
Police said that the four-man gang started robbing and killing cabbies in January, 2001 in Kunming.
After killing 15 cabbies and robbing them of 3,700 yuan, they boasted that they were going to kill 30 more people to be China's No. 1 killers.
