Five Chinese women make Forbes list of world's top 100 powerful women.

Forbes released its list of the world's 100 most powerful women of 2012 on August 24. The list contains 8 heads of state and 29 CEOs, who manage a combined total net worth of $30 trillion. Five Chinese women made the list, including Chen Feng Fuzhen (Director-General of the World Health Organization), Zhang Xin (CEO of SOHO China), Wang Xuehong or Cher Wang (chairperson of HTC), Chen Lihua (chairwomen of Fu Wah International Group), and Sun Yafang (chairwoman of Huawei), ranking 37, 42,56, 79 and 91, respectively.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is ranked No. 1. Forbes dubbed her the "Iron Lady" of Europe, a title they believe is fitting for all she has done to preserve the EU, as Greece and other member states struggle to emerge from an ongoing debt crisis. United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton remained second on the Forbes list, and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff rounded out the top three. United States First Lady Michelle Obama, ranked No. 1 last year, dropped down to 7. The oldest of the 100 women is the Queen Elisabeth, aged 85, and is ranked 49.
