China will recruit more people with grassroots work experience in the upcoming civil servant recruitment, according to a spokesman of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

Government offices at or above provincial level should employ people with more than two years of grassroots work experience, excluding special posts, said Yin Chengji, at press conference on Thursday.

"China also encourages more college graduates to work at government posts at or below county level," said Yin, adding that around 12 percent of this year's civil servant posts have been reserved for college-graduate village officials.

There will also be a crackdown on cheating during recruitment exams in order to ensure a fair test. Exams will be held in late November.

According to sources with the State Administration of Civil Service, more than 1.38 million people were qualified to sit the exams as of 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Civil servant posts are sought after as they are stable jobs at a time when the job market has become increasingly tough.
