Top 10 people who moved China to its core in 2012

China.org.cn has selected its top 10 people who moved China in 2012. These heroes include a jet engineer, a businessman, a teacher, as well as a nurses and migrant worker. Here are the accounts of their exemplary deeds.

Luo Yang

Luo Yang was the on-site general director for China's new J-15 fighter jet research and developing program.

Luo Yang was the on-site general director for China's new J-15 fighter jet research and developing program. He died of a sudden heart attack when on duty in Dalian, Liaoning Province, on Nov. 25, 2012 at the age of 51.

Luo was also chairman of the board of directors and general manager of the Shenyang Aircraft Corp. He devoted all his energy and wisdom to the country's aviation activities, Luo Yang's Funeral Committee said in an announcement on Nov. 26.

On Nov. 26, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, paid tribute to Luo Yang and asked that all Party members and officials learn from Luo's personal merits and admirable spirit. Xi said Luo Yang had made outstanding contributions to the aviation industry and his death meant a great loss for the country.

On Nov. 27, the state-owned Aviation Industry Corp. of China (AVIC) awarded Luo the title of "Aviation Industry Hero and Model" for his contributions to the aviation industry. The All-China Federation of Trade Union conferred Luo the "May 1 Labor Medal" for his exemplary deeds and virtues.
