According to the website of the Chinese Entrepreneurs Club for Singles, only men with personal assets of 100 million yuan (US$16.37 million) or more, or who are a chairman or general manager of a large state-owned enterprise or a foreign venture can be admitted into the club.

But in order to check the backgrounds of the "rich men", the club staff resorted to search engines, because "you can tell if they are really rich simply from the look of their company website."
Cheng Yongsheng, the club owner, alleged that a handful of male club members had managed to find girlfriends during club activities but no couples had tied the knot so far.
The mass auditions have caused a stir in China, but those who were acquainted with the tycoons believe that it was only a farce.
According to the 2012 Chinese Luxury Consumer White Paper, jointly published by the Industrial Bank and the Hurun Report, there are about 63,500 people with personal assets of 100 million yuan or more in China, and their average age is 41. Most of them don't feel a pressing need to find a wife.
Wu Gengzhou, who worked in luxury wedding services for seven years, said that he had never seen a rich man finding his other half through matchmaking agencies.
Wu's clients included rich men who made their fortunes from scratch and the sons of the rich. For Wu, these men shared one thing in common: the more money they had, the more prudent they were towards marriage. They would never consider a stranger as a wife.
Most of the "dates with rich men" organized by the matchmaking agencies simply provided an opportunity for the playboys. Some of them would even bet with each other on how fast they could seduce the girls into bed, Wu said.
In the eyes of Wu, the rich will always choose their peers when it comes to marriage. Cinderella's story will always remain a fairy tale.
