Jiang Yiman also addressed the general conference. She is deputy vice chairman of the Red Cross Society of China. According to Jiang, a fair, transparent, and vigorous philanthropic system is emerging in China. To promote its further development, Jiang put forward three suggestions: First, to promote well-known philanthropic brands such as One Foundation, thus improving the profile of philanthropic organizations; second, to reinforce the management of charitable donations and improve transparency; third, to advocate a new wealth-value centered on commitment, justice and morality. She also discussed the quake relief work of the Red Cross Society of China, vowing that the Red Cross will improve its institutional structures, and cooperate with other philanthropic organizations both at home and abroad.
Former US President Bill Clinton and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair sent their best wishes for philanthropy by televised links. Ibrahim Osman (Vice-Secretary-General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies), Khalid Malik (UN Resident Coordinator of the UN Resident Coordinator's Office & UN Development Programme), Liu Changle (Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Satellite Television Holdings Limited), Scott Weber (Director-General of Interpeace), Wang Zhenyao (Director-General of the Office for Social Welfare and Charity Promotion Department, Ministry of Civil Affairs), Eric Laroche (Assistant Director-General of the World Health Organization), and Maximilian Martin (Global Head of Philanthropy Services at UBS AG) also gave brief speeches at the general conference, voicing a common opinion that only through global partnership can philanthropy be promoted; only through each world citizen's participation can a harmonious world-family be formed.
In addition to the general conference, five branch meetings were held over the two days.
