A photo exhibition featuring a total of 201 photos presented by
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand and Rita Zhao of China
was launched on Wednesday.
The exhibition, entitled "Two Journeys, One Destination", is
aimed at enhancing the understanding between the peoples of
Thailand and China, said Vichai Varasirikul, consul-general of the
Thai Consulate in Hong Kong at the opening ceremony.
He said that the exhibition had a special meaning as it
coincided with the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the
motherland, noting that Princess Sirindhorn attended Hong Kong's
return ceremony in 1997 to show her support for Hong Kong and her
motherland.
The exhibition features a collection of 101 photographs taken by
the Princess during her travels throughout China in the past 25
years, and another set of 100 photographs taken by Zhao, an anchor
with China Central Television, during her travels to the mountains
and islands in Thailand in the past two years.
The Princess believes her photos can narrate stories of China
from an angle that one seldom gets to experience. Zhao aspires to
enhance the friendship, and hence greater understanding and
appreciation among the two peoples.
The exhibition has been held in Beijing, Shanghai and Xiamen
since April 2007. After Hong Kong, the exhibition will be seen in
five other cities in China, namely, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Xian,
Kunming and Nanning.
