As the ambassador of Oxfam Hong Kong, an international non-government charity organization, Hong Kong singer Vivian Chow went to the remote and rural areas of China's southwest Yunnan Province to start her first poverty-relief tour in the Chinese mainland.
On this tour, Vivian has visited many local villagers and also lived with them to experience their tough and impoverished lives.
She also actively promoted the concept of "Help People to Help Themselves" of Oxfam Hong Kong, and is deeply proud of the villagers that have shaken off poverty through their own efforts.
Vivian said the visit has enabled her to understand more about the comprehensive poverty alleviation work that has been done by Oxfam Hong Kong, such as road construction, providing farming and aquaculture techniques to local villagers and the launch of small loan scheme.
