Wedding scenes from the new adaptation of The Kung Fu Cult Master, or Yi Tian Tu Long Ji, by renowned producer Zhang Jizhong were released on Thursday.

Wedding scenes from the new adaptation of The Kung Fu Cult Master, or Yi Tian Tu Long Ji, by renowned producer Zhang Jizhong were released on Thursday, February 4, 2009.

Starlet Liu Jing, who plays Zhou Zhiruo (Chow Chi Yerk), one of the play's leading roles, published a series of photos on her blog on Wednesday, detailing her dramatic "screen wedding" with protagonist "Cheung Mo Kai", played by popular mainland actor Deng Chao.

The production team, which is now shooting in east China's Zhejiang province, lavished a lot of money on this part of the production. To add to the festive atmosphere of the wedding, a large number of firecrackers were also set off.

This wedding scene propels the story towards a dramatic twist. The originally hilarious "wedding ceremony" turns into a turbulent altercation between two women fighting over the affections of the bridegroom. The end result sees the bridegroom walking away with the other woman Zhao Min (or Chiu Ming, played by An Yixuan) and leaving the bride behind.

Originally a popular Chinese martial arts novel by Jin Yong, there have been half a dozen TV series and movies based on it. Producer Zhang's version has come under the spotlight ever since it began shooting last October in Wudang Mountain.

The film tells the story of the Yi Tian sword and Tu Long dagger, two rare masterpieces crafted out of gold and symbolising supremacy in the world of martial arts. As such, every one wants to get their hands on them and a fierce competition among different marital art clans follows.

The story tells about a weakling orphaned boy Cheung Mo Kei, who later learns powerful Kung Fu and becomes the leader of the Ming Sect, one of the martial arts clans.

Media reports say producer Zhang Jizhong praised Deng Chao's portrayal of "Mo Kai" as the "best ever".
