Chinese Haier opened a factory Tuesday in Amman with an aim of providing more tailor-made products to Mideast markets.
At the opening ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of Haier Group Zhang Ruimin said establishing Haier factory in the country signaled an important step of the group's development in the region.
Zhang expressed confidence that Jordan will become Haier's regional center in production and sales.
Jordanian Industry and Trade Minister Ahmed Thuqan al-Hindawi said Jordan welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest in his country.
Haier, a Chinese household electrical giant, was incorporated in 1984. Over the past 20 years, the company has boomed and become a transnational group.
It produces 15,100 varieties of items in 96 product lines and exports to more than 100 countries.
