Nationwide Translation Standards Issued

China's first nationwide rules for translation work have been issued, to try and boost its quality. The rules will be enacted from September 1st.

They have been approved by the National Standardization Management Committee and will be enacted from September 1st.

The regulations were published by the China Translators Association and several of the country's translation and publishing houses.

The translation industry is developing rapidly in China as the country welcomes more foreign visitors and in the run-up to the 2008 Olympics.

But the poor quality of much of the translation work is drawing more and more attention from the public. There are more than 3,000 translation enterprises throughout the country.
