Two Indonesian party leaders met with UN representative to Indonesia Nistor Buastlund in Jakarta Monday to lodge their demand that the United Nations stop the US-led military campaign in Iraq.
Amien Rais, chairman of the National Mandate Party, and Hidayat Nurwahid of the Justice Party condemned the US-led invasion in Iraq without any UN backing, Detikcom online news service reported.
Both leaders, publicly known as the country's strongest challengers for the on-going US-led invasion in Iraq, also urged the government to actively ask other UN members to bring the US president and leaders of its allied countries "to the International Court of Justice as war criminals."
Rais currently heads the People's Consultative Assembly of the Upper House.
