The Press Office under the Ministry of Health published Sunday afternoon a press release in the latest SARS situation on the Chinese mainland. On April 27, 7 provinces reported new SARS cases, 9 provinces reported new suspected cases and 15 provinces reported no cases. By 10 am of April 27, 26 provinces reported SARS cases.
From 10 am of April 26 to 10 am of April 27, China reported 161 new cases (including 22 medical workers), 14 patients recovered and 9 deaths.
Of these figures:
Beijing reported 126 new cases, 2 patients recovered and 8 deaths. Of the 126 cases, 50 used to be suspected cases and now are confirmed as SARS patients
Hebei reported 6 new cases
Shanxi reported 19 new cases, 5 patients recovered and 1 death
Inner Mongolia reported 2 new cases
Anhui reported 3 new cases;
Guangdong reported 3 new cases, and 7 recovered
Sichuan reported 2 new cases.
By 10 am of April 27, China had a total of 2,914 SARS cases (including 610 medical workers), which included 1,299 patients who had recovered and been discharged from hospital and 131 deaths.
From 10 am of April 26 to 10 am of April 27, China also reported 303 new suspected cases, including 162 from Beijing, 2 from Tianjin, 16 from Hebei, 29 from Shanxi, 19 from Inner Mongolia, 2 from Liaoning, 1 from Jiangsu, 3 from Henan, 2 from Hubei, 54 from Guangdong, 1 from Guangxi, 2 from Sichuan, 8 from Shaanxi, 1 from Ningxia, and 1 from Xinjiang. By 10 am of April 27, China had a total of 1,921 suspected cases.
