China will remit US$5 million in aid on Monday to help with relief work in hurricane-hit US states, according to Vice Minister of Commerce Ma Xiuhong.
The disaster relief goods are ready for shipment, Ma said when she visited the US embassy in Beijing.
Ma presented a note from the Chinese government to the US government about the contribution made to David Sedney, chargé d'affaires of the US embassy, and said that China would also send medical workers to the disaster-hit areas, if needed.
On behalf of US President George W. Bush, the US government and citizens, Sedney expressed heartfelt thanks for the timely help of the Chinese government and people.
