Six HK Students Injured in Traffic Accident Hospitalized in Beijing

Six Hong Kong students who were injured in a traffic accident are hospitalized in Beijing for further medical inspection.

The other nine wounded will return to Hong Kong on Tuesday evening.

The accident occurred at 9:30 p.m. Monday when a bus overturned on the expressway toward Beijing Capital Airport, leaving 18 people injured, including 15 students from Hong Kong.

All the students were slightly injured, said Yan Han from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's Beijing office.

Qiu Dalong, an official from Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, said the majority of the Hong Kong students suffered soft tissue injury or skin laceration.

But two of the students suffered a broken collarbone and thoracic crush trauma respectively and their parents will arrive in Beijing on Tuesday.

A Hong Kong student delegation flew to Beijing from Shenyang City of northeast China's Liaoning Province Monday night. They were on their way downtown when the accident happened. The coach overturned and all the 18 passengers were injured, including 15 students from Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government has asked its Beijing Office to obtain more information and provide any possible assistance it can.
