An Airbus A340-600 carrying 232 passengers had a tyre burst shortly after it landed at Shanghai-based Pudong International Airport on Saturday. No injuries were reported.
The aircraft, owned by the China Eastern Airlines, was touching down on a runway at Pudong International Airport during a return flight from Seoul when one of its tyres burst at 2:23 p.m. Saturday. All the passengers on board were evacuated safely and in time.
Pudong Airport authorities said the accident did not delay other flights because the problematic aircraft occupied just one of the airport's two runways and was soon hauled to a maintenance center for repair.
China Eastern's repair workers are doing rush repair on the aircraft on Sunday. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
As one of the three largest state-owned aviation groups, China Eastern Airlines has listed in Hong Kong, New York and Shanghai. It operates more than 400 international and domestic routes.
