Canada's Toronto Film Festival Thursday announced its final
lineup of 73 candidate films, including Chinese directors Ang Lee's
Lust, Caution and Alexi Tan's Blood Brothers.
Ang Lee's latest work Lust, Caution, featuring the
Brokeback Mountain director's return to romance stories,
will highlight this year's slate of special presentations.
Alexi Tan's Blood Brothers, a crime drama set in 1930s
Shanghai, was one of the two Asian films to be shown as gala
presentations. The other one is Indian director Rituparno Ghosh's
The Last Year.
At the same time, the lineup also showcases films by critically
acclaimed newcomers, including 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2
Days by Romanian director Cristian Mungiu, the Palme d'Or
winner at Cannes.
The festival is set to last from September 6 to 15.
