A court session opened in Beijing on Friday as Chinese rock star
Dou Wei was sued for vandalizing property.
China News Service reports, Dou went to the newsroom of
The Beijing News on last may, searching for a
reporter allegedly fabricating false news about him, but in
vain.
The singer later gave vent to his flames of anger by demolishing
several computers and a television set in the office, and sprinkled
water on some editors before leaving.
But the angry singer returned hours later and set fire on a car
in front of the newspaper's office building.
Although both the paper and the car owner decided not to sue Dou
after the incident, the singer still face charges from public
prosecution.
At the court, Dou apologizes for destroying properties at
The Beijing News, and agreed to compensate the newspaper
accordingly.
The quiet artist explained that he didn't commit the radical
behaviors on purpose, but he lost his temper triggered by the false
news about the life and finance of him and his second wife, Gao
Yuan.
The court didn't adjudge immediately on Friday.
