Wildfires burned at least 8,000 acres of land in south Texas over the weekend and more firefighters were dispatched to this area as dry conditions linger, local media reported on Tuesday.
The largest fire scorched about 3,200 acres in Jim Wells and Kleberg counties, and the blaze was started by children playing with fireworks, according to a report by local newspaper The Corpus Christi Caller-times.
Another fire, which destroyed a home in Loyola Beach in Kleberg County, apparently began with trash burning, the paper said.
No casualties were reported, according to the report, which said the Texas Forest Service on Tuesday was moving more firefighting resources to prevent further reoccurrence of fires.
