Rainstorms to hit north China

The National Meteorological Center (NMC) forecasted Monday that rainstorms will sweep north China and scorching weather will continue in the south over the next few days.

Heavy rain is expected for parts of northeast China, most of northern China, and areas along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers.

The Sichuan Basin, the eastern areas along the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River, the middle and eastern part of northwest China will also see heavy rain.

Rainstorms are forecasted to hit the eastern and southern parts of Liaoning Province and eastern part of north China.

The NMC kept its high temperature alert for south China as the hot weather is expected to persist over the next three days. Temperatures in the southern part of the Sichuan Basin, Chongqing Municipality will stay around 38 to 39 degrees Celsius, and even hit 40 degrees in some places.

The agency urged people in these regions to cancel outdoor activities in the early afternoon and advised outdoor workers to protect themselves from the hot weather. It also warned of fire risks triggered by power overloads.
