Rainfall will persist in regions south of the Yangtze River, southern parts of China and some southwestern regions, while gradually spreading north, the National Meteorological Center said Sunday.

The western parts of Guangdong province, eastern areas of Guangxi and southern parts of Jiangxi will see downpours on Sunday, while torrential rains are expected for northwestern Guangdong and northeastern Guangxi, the center said.

Starting Monday, regions between the Yellow and Huaihe rivers, those between the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers and some areas in north China will see continuous showers.

Meanwhile, a fresh cold wave will hit the northern parts of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Monday, dropping temperatures 4-6 degrees Celsius in affected areas, with some seeing temperature plummeting up to 10 degrees Celsius.

The cold wave will bring winds and dust storms and continue to move eastward, the center said.
