Torrential rain will sweep south and southwest China, while thunderstorms will hit north China over the next three days, the National Meteorological Center said on Monday.

Heavy rain will hit parts of Chongqing Municipality and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as well as Shandong, Guizhou, Yunnan and Hainan provinces from Monday afternoon to Tuesday afternoon. The central areas of Guizhou will see torrential rain with precipitation of up to 120 mm.

The country's weather observatory also forecast that thunderstorms will hit north and northeast China and areas along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers from Monday to Wednesday. Some parts of these regions will experience heavy rain, lightning, hail and gales.
