Suspected A/H1N1 flu case confirmed to be common flu

The suspected A/H1N1 flu case reported in Thailand earlier Thursday has been proved to be Influenza Type B infection, and the patient is going to be discharged by local hospital, Thai health official said.

Thai TV Channel 7 on Thursday afternoon quoted a Public Health Ministry official as saying the result of lab test showed the patient has contracted flu Type B, not the recently rampant A/H1N1 flu virus.

The patient, a former lecturer of Rajabhat University, was admitted and quarantined by a local hospital in Ayuddhaya province late Wednesday night after he developed high fever following his foreign trip.

Thailand previously confirmed two A/H1N1 flu cases on May 12, which made the kingdom the sixth affection-confirmed country (or area) in Asia.
