Wu Bangguo, China's top legislator, said on Thursday that
China's National People's Congress (NPC) attached importance to the
development of relations with the Romanian Senate.
Meeting Romanian Senate President Nicolae Vacaroiu in Bucharest,
the visiting Chinese leader said the NPC would promote exchanges
between top leaders, special committees and friendly groups of the
NPC and the Senate to contribute to the strengthening of bilateral
relations between the two countries.
Wu, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, said China treated
Romania as a trusty friend and good partner, and was willing to
work together with the Romanian side to push forward the
fully-fledged cooperative partnership.
He said Sino-Romanian relations had been developing steadily
with the strengthening of mutual political trust and good momentum
in economic and trade cooperation.
Vacaroiu said during the meeting that Romania and China enjoyed
a traditional friendship, and exchanges of visits by state leaders
of the two countries in recent years had further promoted the
bilateral friendly and cooperative relations.
Vacaroiu expressed his belief that Wu's visit would further
contribute to the fully-fledged development of bilateral relations,
adding that the Romanian Senate would strengthen cooperation with
China's NPC and enhance beneficial cooperation in various areas
between the two countries.
Wu arrived here on Wednesday afternoon for a three-day official
good-will visit. It is the first visit to Romania by a Chinese top
legislator.
