Seychelles Foreign Minister Patrick Georges Pillay said on
Friday that his country will firmly abide by the one-China policy
and support the peaceful reunification of China, according to
reports from the capital Victoria.
Pillay made the remarks at the reception commemorating the 57th
anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The foreign minister spoke highly of the Chinese-Seychellois
relation of friendly cooperation. The government and people of
Seychelles appreciate China's assistance in the country's economic
and social development, he said.
On behalf of President James Michel who is on a visit abroad,
Vice President Joseph Belmont sent congratulations to Chinese
Ambassador Geng Wenbing on the 57th anniversary of the founding of
the People's Republic of China, wishing that the Chinese people can
achieve the peaceful reunification of their motherland soon.
More than 200 people attended the reception on Friday. The
guests highly praised China's great achievements in the fields of
politics and economics since China's opening-up in 1979.
