Top political advisor Jia Qinglin met in Beijing on Wednesday
with Hidayat Nur Wahid, Chairman of the People's Consultative
Assembly of Indonesia (MPR), calling on the two sides to boost
bilateral cooperation and further enrich the strategic
partnership.
Hailing the progress made in bilateral relations in recent
years, Jia said China values its relations with Indonesia and the
role that Indonesia plays in the international community.
"We will make joint efforts with the Indonesian side to boost
cooperation in various fields, further enrich the strategic
partnership and make contribution to the promotion of peace and
prosperity in the region and the world at large", said Jia,
chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's
Political Consultative Conference.
He also expressed his appreciation to Indonesia's coherence to
the one-China policy and its supports for China's efforts to
maintain territorial integrity and national unification.
On ties between the CPPCC and MPR, Jia reaffirmed the CPPCC's
wish to deepen bilateral relations, proposing the two sides to
conduct further exchanges at various levels and in various
forms.
Agreeing with Jia's views on bilateral relations, Hidayat said
Indonesia attaches great importance to the relations with China and
he has witnessed the progress and achievements China had scored in
economic and social construction during his current visit.
He told Jia that Indonesian government and its people would
continue to step up bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various
fields.
Hidayat also reiterated that Indonesia would stick to the
one-China policy and support China's effort to realize the
reunification of the country.
Hidayat arrived in China on Monday at the invitation of Jia.
