A group of professors and students from a top Chinese university have arrived in Chile's capital of Santiago to attend an inter-school exchange program, organizers told Xinhua Thursday.

The delegation comprises of 17 students and seven senior professors from the Economy and Administration College of Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious universities in China.

During the ten-day visit, the Chinese visitors will study Chile's financial market, retail industry and the Chilean political and legal system at the Administration School of the Catholic University, a major private university in the South American country.

So far, about 80 Chinese students have participated in the annual exchange programs of "Managing Business in Chile" and "Managing Business in China".

The Andronico Luksik Foundation under the Bank of Chile also launched a yearly exchange program in November 2006. "Due to the great opportunities that China offers us today, we must seek ways to strengthen the ties between the two countries," said Andronico Luksic, vice president of the Bank of Chile.

"The Chilean people can learn a lot from China, which is at a moment of rapid growth and opening up to the world," Luksic said.

"The Chinese people are interested in the Chilean economic model, its capital market and they want to know more about our country. That is why it is important to strengthen and deepen this alliance to benefit students from the two nations," Luksic added.
