黄艺博说，面对网上的批评声，他很委屈、很伤感。“事实上，那些不喜欢我的人对我并没有多少了解。我相信，如果他们本人认识我，他们的想法会有变化。”

在校长黄恒忠的眼里，黄艺博与学校里的其他孩子没什么两样。黄恒忠表示，这个孩子学习成绩平平，但他品性优良，而且具有出色的领导才能。

不过，让校长印象深刻的是这个孩子获得了“武汉市慈善人物”称号——他将自己的稿费都捐给了那些孤寡老人。

对于儿子一夜之间成为社会关注的焦点，黄艺博的父母也备感困扰。网上对他们培养孩子的方法有很多非议，他们也觉得深受伤害。
