A 15-year-old boy in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, allegedly killed his grandmother after she refused to give him money to play Internet games.
Addicted to playing them, Xiao Gang often asked his grandmother, Chen Feng, for money.
But after she rejected yet another request on Jan 29, he is alleged to have returned with four friends two days later to commit the murder.
Police suspect the gang of stealing 20 yuan (US$3) and cleaning all fingerprints from surfaces inside the house.
The five were later found playing games at an Internet cafe.
The oldest suspect was not yet 16 when the crime was committed.
Chengdu Intermediate People's Court will hear the case soon.
