China gymnastics coach satisfies with 'lucky draw'
Adjust font size:

Huang Yubin, the head coach of the Chinese gymnastics national team, expressed his satisfaction over the draw for the men's gymnastics team competitions in the Beijing Olympic Games on Thursday.

The draw was made in Tianjin on Thursday during the finals of the 2008 Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) World Cup.

According to the draw, the Chinese men's team, winner at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, will play in qualification 2, together with Canada, France, Japan, Russia and mixed group 4 in the Olympic Games.

Comparing with the others, many gymnasts don't like qualification 1, since it starts in the morning which may have many disadvantages for their scoring, like lower temperature, shorter warm-up time, fewer audience, and so on.

Huang was quite satisfied with the draw. "I am happy with the results," he said. "We are in the qualification 2, not the first. And we are in the same qualification group with Japan and Russia, which are gymnastics powerhouses."

"But good luck still cannot lead us to the gold," added Huang. "We must perform to our best."
