The David Sheldrick Elephant Orphange in Nairobi pictured on the 9th January 2009 where 13 orphanaged elephants currently live at the sanctuary. Their parents killed by poachers and left in the wild to fend for themselves, these orphaned baby elephants are the graphic cost of an increasing illegal ivory trade in Africa. Rescued from all corners of Kenya and brought to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust based just 30 minutes outside the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, the elephant calves here are given the best possible chance to be re-introduced into the wild.
