Grandmaster Alik Gershon, former Israeli champion and European youth champion, began playing chess simultaneously against 525 players to set a new world record on Thursday. The event will continue until the morning of Friday Oct. 22.The present Guinness world record for simultaneous chess, where one player plays against a number of players, was set on Aug. 13, 2009 by the Iranian chess grandmaster Morteza Mahjoub playing 500 games.
