Grandmaster Alik Gershon plays chess simultaneously against 525 players in Tel Aviv, Isreal on Oct. 21, 2010. Grandmaster Alik Gershon, former Israeli champion and European youth champion, began playing chess simultaneously against 525 players to set a new world record on Thursday. The event will continue until the morning of Friday Oct. 22.The present Guinness world record for simultaneous chess, where one player plays against a number of players, was set on Aug. 13, 2009 by the Iranian chess grandmaster Morteza Mahjoub playing 500 games.
