Xiao Da rents the main bedroom of a three-bedroom flat for 1,890 yuan per month. The apartment is located at Xiaowayao, Fengtai District, and is comparatively expensive. Yet Xiao Da doesn’t care. He says he wants to stay somewhere that feels like home; plus the place is near his fiancée’s home. He hopes to buy a house in suburban Beijing when he’s married.
