60% preparation work of Guangzhou Asian Games completed

Manager of Olympic Council of Asia, National Olympic Council and Language Services External Relations Department Hui Xu from China said on Monday that almost 60 percent preparation work of 16th Asian Games has completed.

The 16th Asian Games is going to be held in Guangzhou, China in 2010.

Hui Xu made the remark in Nepali capital Kathmandu when presenting a paper about the latest progress of 16th Asian Games, Guangzhou, in Olympic Solidarity (OS)/Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Regional Forum.

He said the preparation is rapidly going on and it's getting finished soon.

In one hour audio visual presentation program, he also demonstrated the glimpses of their plan to make the event very successful one.

Talking with Xinhua, he said, "We have considered this meeting as the opportunity to share the beliefs and the attitudes among the experts and the concerned people of Asia."

He also said that the features of the games, opening and closing ceremony will be quite distinct, compared to that of 29th Beijing Olympic Games. The Presentation Ceremony was observed by 42 delegates from 12 Asian Countries.

For the presentation of 16th Asian Games Guangzhou, a four-member team led by Vice Mayor Xu Ruisheng of Guangzhou is in Kathmandu since Sunday.
