Olympic champion Wu Minxia withdrew from the 3-meter springboard final due to a muscle strain at the FINA Diving World Series in Qingdao on Sunday.
Wu and He Zi competed in the 3-meter springboard synchronized on Saturday, but Wu lost her balance when she jumped up in the fourth round.
"Wu has a muscle strain due to yesterday's mistake, so she has to pulls out of the 3m springboard event today," said Zhou Jihong, head of China's diving team.
"But Wu's injury is not serious," Zhou added.
He Zi, world champion of the 1-meter springboard event in 2007, reached the 3m event final with a total of 377.40 points.
Ranked in the first place of the semifinal stage, He will compete with Mexican Paola Espinosa, Canadian Jennifer Abel, American Krug Cassidy, Australian Sharleen Stratton and Briony Cole for the gold of this event later on Sunday afternoon.
