The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has already spent 10 million pesos (228,832 U.S. dollars) for the training and competition equipment of the athletes who are now intensifying their preparation for next month's Guangzhou Asian Games, Manila Bulletin reported Wednesday.

The expenses covered most of the equipment as requested by 30 sports associations whose athletes will be competing in the Asian Games, the paper quoted PSC chairman Richie Garcia as saying.

New bikes, bowling balls, billiards tables, ammunition and electronic armor for taekwondo jins are among the equipment already purchased and will be delivered by the end of the month.

Even dragonboat, whose inclusion is still pending until their time trial on Oct. 9 at the La Mesa Dam, will have new paddles for their training and participation.

The equipment budget is not part of the allocations of 30 million pesos(686,498 U.S. dollars) for the training and participation in the Asian Games.

Garcia also said the PSC has also started giving out an extra 350 pesos (8 dollars) daily allowance for each Asian Games-bound athlete.
