Real Madrid goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek will be out of action for the next six weeks after breaking his jaw in his side's 4-0 win over Auxerre on Wednesday night. The injury happened in the last minute of the first half as he came out of his penalty area to clear the ball, but couldn't avoid a collision with Auxerre striker Contout.
It was an unfortunate end to the match for the former Liverpool keeper, who is usually understudy to Iker Casillas and who was making his first appearance of the season.
Dudek was replaced by third choice goalkeeper Adan and sent for tests at a Madrid hospital.
He had x-ray on his jaw, which revealed a fracture. The injury will keep him out of action until the end of January and Adan will take over duties as Casillas' understudy.
