Ding Junhui checks his cue during his Hainan Classic game against compatriot Yu Delu yesterday. |
Chinese sensation Ding Junhui was knocked out of the Hainan Classic, beaten by his compatriot Yu Delu 2-0, in Boao, Hainan Province, yesterday.
In his first match, the 24-year-old Ding was routed 0-2 by former world champion Graeme Dott of Scotland at the group round on Wednesday.
The fifth-ranked Ding continued his poor run of form yesterday against his compatriot.
With two consecutive failures, Ding had no chance to advance to the semifinals.
However, it did not upset him as he didn't care much about the result. Speaking of the best of three format here, Ding said he was not used to it, and it just depended on his state. He was not in the mood to play this time.
Ding rated his compatriot Yu highly.
"He always plays well, and he was the first one who scored 147 in the nationals matches," said Ding.
"Actually he has the power to play in England, but he had no chances before."
