Leverkusen in touching distance to Bundesliga leaders Dortmund

Leverkusen craved out a hard earned 2-1 victory over St. Pauli after a deficit to shorten the distance to division leaders Dortmund to five points on Sunday.

At the other match, bottom team Monchengladbach flabbergasted mid-table Cologne after a 5-1 goal festival.

Chasers Leverkusen suffered a setback at the title with 58 minute into the match as St. Pauli midfielder Charles Takyi opened the scoring.

Leverkusen took over and equalized the score through striker Stefan Kieling at the 66th minute. Midfielder Lars Bender doubled the score at the 77th minute to turn the match against St. Pauli.

The "Kiez-Kicker" suffered their seventh consecutive defeat to remain at relegation zone with 28 points while Leverkusen are in touching distance to leaders Dortmund with 61 points.

Cologne lost the Renish derby 5-1 to Monchengladbach, mainly due to a desperate first half with a 3-0 deficit. The victory was important for Monchengladbach at relegation battle as they shortened the points to a non-relegation spot.
