More than 1,000 athletes from over 100 countries and regions will attend the 11th World Wushu Competition (WWC) to be held in Turkish capital of Ankara from October 9th to 15th, the head of Turkish Wushu Association Abdurrahman Akyuz said on Friday at a press conference.
China, as the birthplace of Wushu or Martial arts, will send a delegation with more than 40 people including over 20 athletes to attend the competition, Akyuz said.
Chairman of the International Wushu Federation (IWF) Yu Zaiqing will also be present at the 11th WWC.
Akyuz noted that although Wushu was originated from China, it belongs to the world.
There is a growing enthusiasm for Turkish people to exercise Wushu, said Akyuz, adding that three of his four children are learning Wushu and they have visited China repeatedly.
