Wolfsburg and bottom team Freiburg staged an exchange of offensive action with four goals within the fist half on Friday but for all that the "Wolves" luckily ensured the win owing the brace by midfielder Petr Jiracek at the opener of the 21st round of German Bundesliga.
The "Wolves" opened the scoring with only five minutes into the match as midfielder Jiracek slotted home from goal area into far post corner after a cross.
Bottom team Freiburg remained unimpressed and answered with the equalizer at the 12th minute when midfielder Johannes Flum levelled the score after he had all time and space inside Wolfsburgs penalty area to slot home.
Wolfsburg took again the lead only two minutes later as midfielder Marcel Schaefer netted a supposed offside pass.
Freiburg staged a dedicated performance against Wolfsburg's sloppy defense thus midfielder Daniel Caligur equalized the score to make it 2-2 on the scoreboards when he curled the ball at the right post which deflected the ball into the goal at the 38th minute.
After interval Wolfsburg took over to seal the deal at the 61st minute through midfielder Jiracek who wrapped his brace and the win for his side.
Freiburg pressed frantically for the leveller but Wolfsburg remained lucky to kill the clock.
"Today we were insecure. That was not what I wanted to see. Freiburg played well and we earned a lucky win," Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath said.
Wolfsburg climb up from 10th to 8th position with 27 points while Freiburg stay on last position with only 17 points.
The following fixtures are set for Saturday. Division leaders Dortmund host Leverkusen, record champions Bayern face Kaiserslautern, Mainz encounter Hannover, Bremen meet Hoffenheim, Stuttgart see Berlin and Monchengladbach clash against Schalke 04.
