China's number one Li Na cruised into the second round after a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands at the Wimbledon Championships Tuesday.
The sixth seed, backed by the loud approval of a large contingent of her followers, only needed 67 minutes to beat the world number 105 in straight sets.
The victory was a "pretty good start to Wimbledon", said Li after the match.
"I still have to get used to playing on grass, so I was feeling pretty happy today," said the 31-year-old.
Defending champion Serena Williams eased into the second round with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Luxembourg's Mandy Minella.
The American top seed met some test in the second set when the world number 92 delivered a break in game two to establish a shock 2-0 lead.
However, the world number one rallied to win four successive games and never looked back to seal the victory in 57 minutes at Centre Court.
Williams, the 16-time Grand Slam winner after her triumph at the French Open earlier this month, now extended her career-high winning run to 32 matches.
