Camacho has launched an appeal to FIFA over CFA dispute. |
In the latest chapter of the ongoing Jose Camacho saga, the recently terminated Chinese soccer coach launched an appeal to FIFA after compensation negotiations broke down July 4, according to reports from the Beijing Times.
Negotiations between Camacho and the Chinese Football Association (CFA) ended after the CFA refused to pay as much as 18 million yuan ($2.94 million) in taxes on Camacho's salary. The former Spain and Real Madrid coach was terminated June 22 after a humiliating 5-1 loss to Thailand in a friendly match on June 15.
"We are not fully aware of the situation. However, we respect his decision and will focus on dealing with the case," a CFA official was quoted as saying.
