Desperate Arsenal turn to Real Madrid's Benzema to solve striker shortage. |
Arsene Wenger has turned his attentions to Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema to solve Arsenal's striker shortage.
The Gunners are prepared to pay £40m for 25-year-old France striker after missing out on Gonzalo Higuain and Liverpool's Luis Suarez.
Wenger is a long-term admirer of the France international, and is hoping Real will sell him to help fund their world-record move for Spurs star Gareth Bale.
Arsenal have at least £70million to spend on new signings this summer, so affording Benzema will not be a problem for the London club.
Arsenal have endured repeated frustration in the transfer window and, as well as a striker, Wenger is still working on deals for a goalkeeper and at least one midfielder.
