German side Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Azerbaijan Premier League side Qarabag Agdam 2-1 at the second leg of the Europa League qualifiers to ensure a berth for Europe with 4-1 on aggregate on Thursday.
Frankfurt already did the groundwork for their progress into the group stage of the Europa League at the first leg when the Germans reaped a 2-0 away victory.
Frankfurt's Alexander Meier scored the supposed opener with just eight minutes into the game but his effort was call offside. Nevertheless, Meier reloaded just two minutes later when he broke the deadlock with a left footed volley from five meters following Sebastian Rode?s cross.
The visitors from Azerbaijan restored parity at the 58th minute through Reynaldo dos Santos Silva, who was fielded two minutes earlier. Reynaldo made use of Leroy George's pass into path to overcome Frankfurt's goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
The "Eagles" remained unimpressed Qarabag's equalizer and sealed the deal ahead of time when Takashi Inui nodded into the open goal thanks to Jan Rosenthal's neat cross, to make it 4-1 on aggregate with 15 minutes to play.
"We are very delighted to progress into the group stage of the Europa League," Frankfurt coach Armin Veh said after the match.
