The ATP world's number two Novak Djokovic from Serbia defeated on Tuesday Denis Istomin from Uzbekistan in two sets, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round of the men's 22nd Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

The defending champion, who won the Dubai open four times so far, said he expected a tough match against Istomin and he felt very positive to be back to Dubai as he enjoys a lot of support from the fans.

Nevertheless, the former world's number one added "I am still not there where I want to be in my playing and I feel that I have not played an official match for over five weeks."

Earlier in the week, the Serbian superstar who lives in Monaco revealed that he hired Boris Becker as coach in December last year in order to improve his mental strength.

Djokovic won in his career six Grand Slam single titles and held the number one spot of the ATP world rankings for a total of 101 weeks.
