Defending champion Shaanxi have suffered their second straight
loss as they were beaten 3-2 by Zhejiang in the 11th round of the
table tennis super league.
Zhejiang's imported German player Timo Boll led the team with
two singles victories.
World number two Boll put his team 1-0 through a five-set
victory over Hao Shuai.
The German ace, falling two sets down, came from behind to win
7-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7 and 11-9.
The Shaanxi team soon equalized the score through a win from
world champion Ma Lin.
The two sides each snatched one more point to tie at 2-all,
while Boll tamed Ko Lai Chak 3-1 in the decisive fifth match to
seal the victory for Zhejiang.
In other matches of the men's league, Wuxi and Shandong each
posted a 3-2 win over their opponents, while Ningbo returned the
relegation zone after losing to Sichuan 3-0.
In the women' side, Beijing beat Bayi 3-1 to stay well clear at
the top of the league table. Liaoning snapped a three-round losing
streak with a 3-2 win over the team of Peking University.
Shandong and Guangdong both won at home: Shandong whitewashed
Sichuan 3-0, while Guangdong outnumbered Jiangsu 3-2.
